The Sports Academy coming to Norwalk

NORWALK, Iowa — TPH Sports Academy is planning on opening a location in Norwalk on the Gregg Young Sports Campus.

A sports academy lets gifted student-athletes still receive an education while spending more time during the day in sports training. TPH Academy has had its eyes set on opening a location in Iowa for a while and they jumped at the opportunity to partner with Norwalk.

Hollie Zajicek, the Economic Development Director for the City of Norwalk, said that the new sports campus helped draw TPH Academy to Norwalk.

“Norwalk is very lucky to have the types of private development partners that we have that they would even consider Norwalk to have a lot of options. There’s a lot of great areas in Iowa, and the Des Moines metro is really just packed with you know, great communities. But Norwalk is pretty special and is pretty unique. And I think that having those relationships and bringing those developments here just made sense. You know, sports is just such a huge industry, not just in Iowa and the Des Moines metro area, but really in Norwalk. It is it’s a very important thing here,” Zajicek said.
