A message from MidAmerican:

At MidAmerican, we are always ready to serve our customers, no matter the weather. Here in the Midwest, we know we always have to be ready for whatever Mother Nature will bring – and we are already hard at work. We have been closely monitoring National Weather Service forecasts that ice, snow and high winds will be entering parts of our service territory throughout the day and into the evening. We have prepared our crews for any potential threats to our system and have shifted resources to our biggest areas of concern – the Waterloo area and north-central Iowa.

Based on the latest forecast, we are expecting to see ice accompanied by strong, gusty winds, which can snap tree limbs and bring down power lines. We are proactively moving five distribution line crews from Des Moines, two distribution line crews from the Quad Cities and have activated contract tree crews to support Waterloo. We are also holding a contingent of local distribution line crews in Waterloo, Hampton and Charles City into overnight shifts.

As you may have seen out in your community in the past, we will have our storm response trailers positioned in Waterloo, Hampton and Storm Lake. These are semi-trailers that are fully loaded with the most commonly needed components used in storm restoration events.

In the case of a power outage, you can report it online, via social media or by calling us at 888-427-5632. We also encourage opting into text and email notifications via My Account for repair updates.

As always, we are here to support you as our customer and community partner – 24/7, 365. We will continue to provide updates on our website as well as through our social media channels. I will also provide updates as they become available, but please let me know if we can be of assistance or you need anything.

Stay safe!
