Stormwater Advisory Committee

Purpose:
The City of Norwalk maintains a Stormwater Advisory Committee composed of local residents with varying professions and backgrounds. The Committee is intended to provide a community perspective on stormwater issues and meet at least once a year to attempt to accomplish goals the group sets forth.  The Storm Water Advisory Committee provides input concerning appropriate storm water management policies and programs, best management practices and funding sources with the primary purpose to minimize increases in stormwater runoff, pollution and soil erosion as well as improve the quality of our natural resources and streams. Meetings: Meetings are conducted in accordance with the city’s State of Iowa Department of Natural Resources National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit requirements. Meetings are open to the public subject to the exceptions in Iowa Code, Section 21.5.
Composition: The SWAC shall be composed of 1 City Council member, 1 Planning & Zoning Commission member, and at least 3 but not more than 5 appointed citizen members. Members are selected by the Stormwater Coordinator and serve 2 year staggered terms. Members shall be appointed by City Council.
