Keep Streets & Storm Sewers Clean

Keep Streets & Storm Sewers Clean

The City of Norwalk has an ordinance in place which specifically focuses on prohibiting activities which deposit material such as grass, leaves and other yard waste onto the city streets, public right-of-ways and storm water intakes. There are a few reasons why it is important to enforce this ordinance, but our main concern is safety. When materials are deposited onto the streets, the results may bring unanticipated slick surfaces, as well as accumulate in storm drains and plug the system, causing ponds to form leading to traffic hazards.

Please be sure you are disposing of your yard waste in the proper manner. The proper disposal of yard waste consists of either composting on the premises or setting waste out for collection in bags or bundles. When it comes to grass and leaves being blown onto the street, in most cases just changing the way one mows their yard will help to keep the street clean.

In an effort to keep materials off of the street and out of the storm water systems, please do your part in keeping the community safe and clean for everyone’s use.
