Traffic delays expected for Friday, Sept. 21 - Des Moines Asphalt will be cutting a patch on eastbound Beardsley and 80th tomorrow morning and you should expect delays in that area. Please use caution when traveling through that area. If you have questions you may direct them to Public Works. Thank you!

ATTENTION - North Avenue Asphalt Overlay from Center Street to East 17th Street

The asphalt overlay preparatory work will most likely begin on Friday to clean and prepare the street for paving.  The overlay work will begin on Saturday morning from Center Street to E. 17th Street.  Access to this corridor on North Avenue will be very limited during paving operations.  Access to the high school will be maintained from the Cherry Street entrance and at E.17th to Eastview. The work will be completed in two lifts (a leveling course and a final surface overlay).  The contractor is anticipating completing all asphalt work in this area on Saturday.  We are unsure what time the work will be completed, a lot depends on how much rain we get tonight and how the preparatory work goes on Friday

Concrete patching will continue on North Avenue west of Main Street for the next couple weeks.  One lane will be open to traffic at all times (but please find alternate routes to reduce impacts on the contractors).

Thank you for your understanding and help with this project!
