Road Project Updates

Public Works Summer Update

Hello Norwalk!! We’ve made it into summer and have plenty of work to get done before Fall becomes a reality.

We have made great progress cleaning up streets and repairing those pesky potholes.  If you still know of a few that need repair, please use our online web reporting tool to let us know so they can be addressed.  We are also currently working on numerous concrete repairs that have become too large to pot hole using cold mix.   The Public Works Crew will be working on North Ave from E17th to R57, E18th, Gordon and a few others if time allows.

We have some large projects in progress on North Ave from E17th to HWY 28, which will be patching and overlay. We also have the construction of Delaware Street near Windsor Windows and Michael Food starting very soon as well.  I am sure you noticed the full depth patching on HWY 28 right now that is really going to help during the winter months when the pot holes are at their worst.  Norwalk Schools will be widening North Avenue in front of the new school to allow for a turn lane and school zone. In addition on North, Public Works will be contracting shoulder asphalt maintenance from the new school zone to Orilla Ave to help with edge ruts that often ride rough and can be dangerous.

In regards to water, we have plenty to discuss.  This year we have had both of our pumps serviced and also have purchased back up’s in case we have a catastrophic failure during high demand events.  We are also adding another connection on Lakewood and HWY 28 that will help keep our water tower 3-5 feet higher during peak usage and recovery.  The water main coming from the West is still in progress and is slated to be here and hooked up before next season’s heat and high demand.  We are looking at an additional tower in the future as well as an upsized line between Norwalk and Cumming which will maximize our Western Secondary Feed.

There will be more to come in the fall.  Please drive carefully in those construction zones and remember to be patient.  We value your safety as much as ours.
