Enjoy Our Parks and Facilities

The Norwalk City ordinance does not allow any alcohol or smoking in any of our city parks or sports complex.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Norwalk-McAninch Sports Complex - 200 Wright Road
This facility is the hub of the Norwalk youth sports scene. Field space is available to rent for tournaments, league play, scrimmages, and practices, etc. This complex consists of two youth baseball, two youth softball, two adult softball fields, 23 soccer fields, as well as multi-use green space and modern concession and restroom areas. Fourth of July Celebration and the High School Cross Country Meet are a few events held at this facility. The Sports Complex rules: dogs/pets are not allowed at the complex (exception: service animals), no smoking, and no alcohol consumption permitted. Call 981-9206 for more information on reservations and rentals.

Billy O Phillips Park - 2500 Lexington Drive

Billy O Phillips Parks is a newly constructed park located on Lexington Dr in the Legacy development. It consists of a Game Time playground, restrooms, a new Cedar Forest shelter house (named after our former mayor, Jerry Starkweather), sidewalks, trees, and a future practice ball diamond. The park is open to all residents. Shelter reservation fees are $15.00 for four hours or less, $25.00 for over four hours, but not more than eight hours. You are welcome to use the shelter house if a reservation sign is not posted for that day. NO alcohol is allowed in any of Norwalk's parks! You can reserve by calling our office at 981-9206.

Brownie Park - 805 Cherry Parkway
This park was updated with a KCCI Project Mainstreet Grant. A white picket fence and arbor greet you as you begin the trail into the park. It leads to a butterfly body garden right in the center of the trail, with the brightly colored floral wings on either side of the trail completing the butterfly design. A wooden porch-style swing hanging from a matching arbor along with picnic tables makes this a great retreat for a small family picnic or a little get away. There are no restrooms at this park, but enjoy a leisure walk over to the library for facilities and parking.

McDonald's Woods - 708 High Road
This park is nestled in behind town homes on High Road. It is a forest like setting with trees and picnic tables only. To access park entrance and parking lot use Holly Drive. No restroom facilities available.

Norwalk City Park/Dog Park - 907 North Avenue
The Norwalk Dog Park is located in City Park (Passes available at City Hall to use.) This park has playground equipment, basketball courts, restroom facilities, an old railroad car, restroom facilities and an open shelter house with picnic tables. Shelter reservation fees are $15.00 for four hours or less, $25.00 for over four hours, but not more than eight hours. Calling our office at 981-9206 can reserve the shelter. NO alcohol is allowed in any of Norwalk's parks!

Windflower Park - 1915 North Avenue
This park includes the Norwalk Aquatic Center, playground equipment, a walking path, 12-hole disc golf course, a double wide basketball court, skateboard park, along with an open shelter house with an enclosed kitchen (refrigerator, microwave, stove, kitchen sink) and restrooms. Shelter reservation fees are $10.00 per hour, plus a $25.00 deposit if you want to use the kitchen. If no kitchen is required, reservation fees are $15.00 for up to four hours, $25.00 for up to eight hours. Calling our office at 981-9206 can reserve the shelter. Warrior Park - 511 Orchard Hills Drive
The newest park in our system was built with the help of the Wellmark Foundation Grant. The park consists of a pre-school age playground, NFL Play 60 Challenge Course (1 of 3 in the Midwest), restroom facilities, large open air shelter that is available for reservation, a trail around the south side that will connect to Orchard Hills Elementary and a small fishing pond stocked by the DNR. Parking is also available on-site but we encourage you to walk or ride your bike to the park as there are limited spaces.

Elizabeth Holland Park - 1401 Colonial Parkway
Another relatively new park located east of Highway 28 on the south side of Beardsley Street. The land was donated by the family of Elizabeth Holland. Current park amenities include 2 ponds stocked by the DNR. A 1-mile trail with lighting, prairie and a parking lot will be built in the Spring/Summer 2019. Future additions will include an enclosed shelter with restrooms accessible to park users and additional parking.

Bike Trails
The City maintains several miles of linear bicycle/pedestrian trails. Trails are both on and off street. The most recent addition to our bike system is the trail going through 5-Acre park to the Lakewood Elementary School.
