 GREATER DES MOINES, IA (June 23, 2020) – The City of Norwalk has announced seven recipients of the Small Business Recover Grant to help businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This program is led by the Greater Des Moines Partnership and a number of participating municipalities in the Greater Des Moines (DSM) region.

Award recipients are: Dimples Family Dentistry, Blush Parlour, LLC, Wendy’s Ice Cream Shop, Anytime Fitness, CROSSFIT 50211, LLC, Entity Nailbar, and Barbers Unlimited. Three additional Warren County businesses that claim Norwalk as their home base were also awarded grant funds; The Farmhouse Event Venue, Happy Apple Celebrations, LLC, and Hinds Metal Design, LLC.

The City of Norwalk’s Economic Development Director, Hollie Zajicek stated “Norwalk and Warren County businesses are incredibly important to our quality of life, economy, and tax base that serves all residents. We wanted to help them recover from this crisis and are so grateful for the amazing partners we have in the Greater Des Moines Partnership, Warren County/WCEDC, and the Norwalk Chamber. Everyone came together to help each other, including the businesses themselves.”

The grant program is funded through contributions from the City of Des Moines, Polk County, Principal Foundation, EMC Insurance Companies, the City of Urbandale, City of Norwalk, Warren County, Norwalk Chamber, City of Johnston, Delta Dental, Meredith Corporation, Nationwide, Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Iowa, Wells Fargo Foundation, City of Indianola,  City of West Des Moines, City of Clive, Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company of Iowa, Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, Fidelity & Guaranty Life, IMT Insurance, City of Windsor Heights, City of Carlisle, Bankers Trust, Kemin Industries, NCMIC Group, Veridian Credit Union, Global Atlantic Financial Group, GuideOne Insurance, Merchants Bonding Company, Ruan Transportation Management Systems and Community Choice Credit Union.  

“The Small Business Recovery Grant program is another example of our public and private sectors coming together to invest in the future of our region,” said Jay Byers, CEO of the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “We must continue to support our small businesses as a key strategy of regional economic recovery moving forward.”

 More recipients from cities throughout the region will be announced in coming days and weeks.
